Asalaamulaikum, I’m Nurgis Ara. Mummy to sweet Musa, my inspiration and muse behind the My Musa Stories. One Summer’s day with baby Musa in my arms, I decided to write a story just for him; a little keepsake from mother to son. And that’s how it all started! My story to Musa inspired me to write more stories for tiny Muslims around the world.
Before Musa was born, I used to spend my days teaching English. And although I loved my job, when I had the blessing of becoming a mother, I knew the only place I wanted to be was at home – looking after him! We spend our days playing, painting, baking, flower picking, stone throwing, insect spotting, exploring the world around us, and of course we love to read! Oh, and how can I forget Musa’s sidekick?! We love going on adventures with Musa’s favourite pal, Cat!
Asalaamulaikum! I’m Azra Momin, illustrator of My Musa Stories. I usually spend my day illustrating, painting, and playing with clay or fabric. In between, I might be found writing for magazines or teaching a course. But any chance I get I’m out hiking in the woods, where I find endlessly fascinating things to look at. I enjoy playing made-up games and going geocaching with my favourite comrades – my husband and daughter. A stack of comic books and mystery novels are always by my side, and I dream about living in an earth ship. Find me on Instagram @azramomin.
